The work you do improves our understanding and conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems in a changing climate.

Collectively your bird survey work has contributed to over 13,000 sightings within the EP Birds Online Portal since 2014 (including the generous donation of historic bird data from the Southern Eyre Birds Group extending back to 2004).

Your monitoring site

We are here to help and support you. We encourage you to come to us early if you are have an issue with your allocated bird BCM monitoring sites. Please note we do not intend to offend anyone, however, if particularly 'allocated' bird survey sites are not completed in within the desired timeframes they will likely be reallocated to another citizen scientist. Thank you for understanding.

If you would like to pick up a new monitoring site please use the interactive map below. Use the zoom function and click on the markers to learn more about a bird BCM monitoring site you might like to adopt. Once you've located a new monitoring site note down the Site ID give us a call or email so we can allocate it to you and talk through any other needs regarding access to the site.

How monitoring birds contributes to the big picture

Birds are good indicators of environmental condition and your work as part of the EP Birds Citizen Science Network feeds directly into the region’s long-term environmental monitoring program and also contributes to the Biological Database of South Australia.

Within the Regional NRM Plan your bird monitoring work assists in achieving 'healthy and resilient land, sea and water ecosystems' (Goal 2) and 'active participation in natural resource management' (Goal 3).
