Become a Coastal Ambassador

South Australia has stunning coastlines, with unique and amazing animals and plant life living in the ocean and on our beaches. Become a Coastal Ambassador and help to conserve the coast.

What is a Coastal Ambassador?

A Coastal Ambassador is someone who has an interest in coast and marine conservation and wants to learn as much as they can about these environments. Essentially they are community champions who willingly share knowledge within their community and actively participate in helping to protect and conserve the coast.

About the program

The Coastal Ambassador training and mentoring program is funded by the NRM levy. The program presents a series of expert talks, workshops and field trips to support, educate and inspire individuals about coast and marine environments and what can be done to help conserve them.

The program is open to anyone living in the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges region and is free for participants. Interactive field trips such as supervised snorkelling and kayaking excursions allow participants to gain knowledge by actively enjoying these spectacular marine environments.

All activities are held in the evenings or on weekends. This highly sought after program accepts 20 placements each year.
