Drainage and Wetlands Strategy

The Drainage and Wetlands Strategy was a collaborative effort between the former South East Natural Resources Management Board and the South Eastern Water Conservation and Drainage Board, for the management of surface water and wetlands across our landscapes.

Managing the interaction between a wet and dry landscape for the benefits of agriculture and biodiversity is complex.

The development of the Strategy recognises the complexity of our water system which consists of thousands of kilometres of public and private drains, floodways, wetlands, creeks and water courses. The Strategy also provides overarching objectives and long term outcomes for surface water management in the Limestone Coast region.

It identifies improved management opportunities for surface water and describes threats and challenges that need to be addressed.
