Volunteer support and recognition
A variety of training opportunities are provided free of charge to Murraylands and Riverland volunteers throughout the year. Training topics include first aid, work health and safety, project management and a range of practical on-ground topics such as weed control, seed collection and propagation. If your group has specific training needs, you can contact us for assistance.
Volunteer WHS and insurance
Murraylands and Riverland volunteer groups can access free insurance with SAICORP through the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board. Fact sheets providing information about volunteer insurance are available from the Project Officer, Partnerships and Engagement, using the contact information at the bottom of this page.
A range of volunteer management templates are also available. These templates help groups to ensure their volunteers are safe and enables them to satisfy the minimum requirements of the SAICORP volunteer insurance. These forms can also be accessed from the Project Officer, Partnerships and Engagement.
Starting a new volunteer group
The Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board can provide advice, insurance and some financial support to new groups who wish to undertake landscape management activities within the Murraylands and Riverland region. To register a new group, please contact the Project Officer, Partnerships and Engagement using the contact information at the bottom of this page.
Local Action Planning (LAP) groups
Landcare and Local Action Planning (LAP) groups provide support to volunteers and community groups across the region and may be able to assist with:
- planning and project development
- sourcing funding
- sourcing partnerships with other organisations or industry
- accessing technical information
- accessing equipment
- running effective community groups.
