Discover the incredible biodiversity of your local waterways and be part of an exciting citizen science event!

The Clare Waterbug Bioblitz is a one-day event that brings together community members, scientists, and nature enthusiasts to explore and document aquatic life in our region. Whether you're a seasoned naturalist, a curious beginner, or simply love spending time outdoors, this is a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature and contribute to local conservation efforts.

Participants will team up with aquatic ecologists to investigate our rivers and creeks, collecting data on macroinvertebrates (waterbugs) and water quality. You'll receive hands-on training in waterbug sampling and water testing, gaining new skills while contributing valuable information that supports the health of our waterways.

What’s Involved?

As a Bioblitz participant, you’ll help collect data that contributes to:

  • Monitoring long-term trends in waterway health
  • Supporting community education and knowledge sharing
  • Measuring the success of revegetation and land management projects
  • Tracking the effectiveness of Water Allocation Plans

This event is part of the Waterbug Bioblitz program and other citizen science initiatives that help build a clearer picture of our aquatic ecosystems.

No experience necessary – all training and equipment are provided.
Just bring your enthusiasm, curiosity, and a sense of adventure!
