Free carbon farming webinar: Boost productivity, cut emissions

News article |

Sheep and cattle producers across South Australia are invited to a free, practical webinar that explores how the latest research can be applied on-farm to improve productivity while reducing emissions.

Sheep, Cattle and Carbon: Research and On-Farm Progress will be held online on Wednesday 1 April 2026 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, giving producers a straightforward look at what’s working in South Australian livestock systems right now. It’s part of a series of free carbon farming webinars hosted by the landscape boards of South Australia between February and May 2026.

Delivered by the Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board and their ag partners Agricultural Innovation and Research Eyre Peninsula (AIR EP), the session is designed to cut through the noise and focus on what matters most to farmers: what actually works on-farm.

Sustainable Agriculture Facilitator from AIR EP Amy Wright said the webinar will focus on practical options producers can consider immediately.

“This isn’t theory — it’s about what can realistically fit into your current system,” Amy said.

“We know producers are busy, so this session is designed to give clear, practical insights you can think about applying straight away.”

Dr Adam Main, CH4 Global and Dr Alyce Lowe, SARDI will present at the Sheep, Cattle and Carbon webinar on 1 April.

The webinar features two experienced speakers working directly with industry:

Dr Alyce Lowe (SARDI) will cover:

  • What’s been tested — pellets, water delivery and loose lick options
  • Early findings on low-methane pastures
  • What it means for lamb survival, productivity and performance

Dr Adam Main (CH4 Global) will provide:

  • A clear overview of methane-reducing feed technologies
  • How these solutions are being used in South Australian systems
  • What producers should know before considering adoption

Importantly, the session will focus on balancing emissions with productivity outcomes, ensuring any changes make sense for farm businesses.

“At the end of the day, any new approach needs to stack up on-farm,” Amy said. “This webinar is about giving producers the information they need to make informed, practical decisions — not adding complexity.”

The session is free, online and designed to fit into the working day. Register now: https://bit.ly/April-CarbonFarming

AIR EP delivers agriculture programs for the Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board including a Carbon Outreach Program. The free carbon farming webinars are delivered with funding support from the Commonwealth of Australia through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water under the Carbon Farming Outreach Program.
