The Report of the Independent Review of the Landscape SA Act 2019 has been tabled in Parliament and is now public.

The 6-month independent review, led by the Honourable John Hill, commenced in August 2023 to look at the effectiveness and operation of the Landscape Act.

One hundred and thirty-four written submissions about the Act and related legislation were received during the public consultation period.

After considering feedback, the report puts forward 66 recommendations across 14 areas of the Act to enhance and strengthen the Landscape SA system and its objectives.

The Minister for Climate, Environment and Water, who has overall responsibility for implementation of the Landscape Act, will now consider the report’s findings and recommendations and a high-level government response will be prepared.

Any reforms pursued by the Minister will involve a thorough consultation and engagement process.

More information will be made available on the Department for Environment and Water website in due course.
