Review of South Australia’s Landscape Act
An independent review into the operation and effectiveness of South Australia’s Landscape Act will be undertaken in line with the requirement that the Act be reviewed 3 years after its commencement.
The review, led by former Member of Parliament (1997 to 2014) and Minister for the Environment (2002 to 2006) Hon John Hill, begins on Monday 14 August 2023.
The Landscape South Australia Act 2019 came into operation 1 July 2020 to provide a framework for promoting sustainable and integrated management of land, water, pest plants and animals and biodiversity across the state.
It allowed for the establishment of 8 regional landscape boards and the metropolitan Green Adelaide Board to help local communities care for land, water and nature.
The review will also investigate the effect the creation of Green Adelaide has had on the funding of regional landscape boards, in line with a state government election commitment.
Members of the public, landscape boards, environmental and primary industry groups, First Nations peoples, and landowners will be invited to share their views on the operation and effectiveness of the Act.

The reviewer will work independently of the state government and report directly to Minister for Climate, Environment and Water, Dr Susan Close.
