Bringing Bilbies back
Bringing Bilbies Back
We have the location - SA’s Yorke Peninsula - a novel, long-term successful proven pilot for species reintroduction - Yalgi - and a skilled team ready to do it for Bilbies.
What we need now are partners who share our vision for nature recovery. Building on the successful reintroduction of yalgiri through the Marna Banggara program, we have developed a proven, investment-ready blueprint for the return of the greater bilby.
We invite you to become the inaugural partner in this landmark Australian rewilding initiative.
Funding bilby conservation delivers benefits far beyond a single species, strengthening entire ecosystems for future generations.
Regenerating nature at landscape-scale through the return of a keystone species
Why this site?
🌱 Proven rewilding at landscape-scale
🌱 Connected habitat over large area
🌱 Successful predator control at scale
🌱 Strong First Nations leadership and custodianship
🌱 Proven scalable coexistence model, with national and global application
Why Bilbies?
- Ecosystem engineers
- Improve soil health
- Support biodiversity recovery
- Create greater climate resilience
Funding bilby conservation delivers benefits far beyond a single species, strengthening entire ecosystems for future generations.
BRINGING BACK ONE SPECIES HAS MANY BENEFITS
We invite you to partner in the return of this priority keystone species and contribute to landscape scale restoration, helping Country to withstand climate and environmental pressures, and preserve a place that visitors, local species and natives thrive in and love.
NATIONAL OUTCOMES
This is genuinely distinctive.
By building resilient nature systems rather than isolated refuges, this project supports long-term bilby recovery while demonstrating a nationally important approach to climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and coexistence.
WE KNOW WHAT WORKS
WE HAVE THE IDEAL LOCATION
WE HAVE A PROVEN APPROACH
TOGETHER WE CAN CREATE REAL IMPACT FOR NATURE
- Ecosystem Engineers
Bilbies play a vital role in restoring landscape function through their extensive digging, which creates healthier, more productive ecosystems.
- Improve Soil Health
Their foraging and burrowing aerate the soil, increase water infiltration, and recycle nutrients, helping native vegetation thrive
- Support Biodiversity Recovery
Bilbies create habitat opportunities for plants, insects, and other native species, contributing to broader biodiversity conservation outcomes.
- Build Climate Resilience
By improving soil structure and ecosystem health, bilbies help landscapes better withstand drought, extreme weather, and the impacts of climate change.
Opportunity to achieve shared conservation outcomes
