Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan - Northern and Yorke

There is a growing need to enhance the Northern and Yorke (NY) region’s preparedness and resilience to natural disasters and climate extremes and their impact on biodiversity and agricultural natural capital assets. Ensuring the survival of species and places helps to preserve key ecosystem services such as clean air, water, and climate regulation, all of which profoundly affect human wellbeing. Preparing for climate change extremes and disasters bolsters the resilience of ecosystems and agricultural systems, enabling them to better withstand these events and recover and flourish post-event.

Improved preparation and response also contributes to stronger regional economies through more resilient industry sectors, such as tourism and agriculture. By investing in disaster preparedness, long-term costs for recovery and restoration post-event are significantly reduced.
