Demand for lower EP Fox bait distribution

With a high demand for fox baits at the moment in our lower Eyre Peninsula region, we’re going to hold another distribution week with collection available in Port Lincoln and Cummins from September 4 to 8.

This year has seen an increase in fox presence with multiple landholders reporting large numbers across lower EP. To help manage the population, landholders are encouraged to come and collect baits. Placing baits out at similar times across multiple properties helps with the effectiveness of fox control.

The 1080 meat baits are prepared by landscape board staff with eligible landholders able to purchase them for fox control for $1.50 per bait as per the statewide Landscape SA Pest Control Pricing Policy. At distribution days, a 20% discount applies, as well as when groups of three or more adjoining landholders purchase baits as part of a coordinated baiting program at other times throughout the year.

Land managers are reminded to bring along a bucket with a sealable lid when collecting baits or they are available to purchase for $12. The baits are frozen meat which is kept frozen until use. Land managers will also be required to provide the section numbers for the properties they intend to bait.

• Port Lincoln distribution, September 4 to 6, 10am to 4pm daily at our Henderson St depot
• Cummins distribution, September 7 to 8, 10am to 4pm daily at the Cummins Oval
