More than 70 farmers, advisors, and industry leaders came together in Strathalbyn on 27 November for The Lay of the Land seminar - a landmark event exploring how natural assets are transforming farm business and profitability.

Hosted by Landscapes Hills and Fleurieu and guided by Leigh Radford OAM, the seminar delivered practical insights on sustainability, finance, and emerging market opportunities. From understanding the Australian Agricultural Sustainability Framework to unlocking green finance and exploring carbon and biodiversity markets, the message was clear - profitability and sustainability now go hand in hand.

“There is increasing demand for regenerative produce, and farmers who demonstrate commitment to environmental sustainability may have a market advantage,” said Bonnie Armour, Carbon Farming and Soil Extension Officer at Landscapes Hills and Fleurieu.

“Farmers want clarity and confidence to take the next step, and our role is to make that journey practical - helping farmers plan, act, and access the support available to restore and manage natural assets.”

The event featured expert voices from across the supply chain, including agribusiness consultants, sustainability strategists, buyers, and financiers. Attendees engaged in lively Q&A sessions and connected over dinner, leaving with actionable strategies to future-proof their businesses.
