Have your say on our region’s landscapes.
The Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board is currently seeking community and partner feedback on the draft Hills and Fleurieu Regional Landscape Plan 2026-2031.
This is a plan for the whole region - setting shared priorities for improving the health and climate resilience of our landscapes through community stewardship of land, water and nature.
The draft has been shaped by a review of the current plan and by the insights and ideas shared through the 2025 Landscape Conversations held across the region. We now invite you to review the draft and tell us whether it reflects what matters most to you and your community.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Plan?
The Regional Landscape Plan is the five-year strategic plan for the whole region. It sets shared priorities for caring for land, water, nature, and building climate and community stewardship. It is not a plan for the Board alone - it reflects the combined efforts and responsibilities of many partners across the Hills and Fleurieu.
Why has the plan been updated?
Regional Landscape Plans are reviewed and updated every five years. The new draft responds to changes in our region, the results of the 2021-26 plan, emerging environmental pressures and more than 770 ideas gathered through the 2025 Landscape Conversations with community, partners and stakeholders.
Who is involved in delivering the plan?
Many organisations and individuals contribute to landscape management. The draft plan identifies shared roles for councils, state government agencies, industry, community groups, NGOs, First Nations partners, research organisations and both private and public land managers. The plan provides a common direction for working together.
What are the main priorities in the draft plan?
The draft focuses on five priorities shaped by community input:
- Community - Everyone caring for our landscapes
- Climate - A net-zero, climate-resilient region
- Land - Healthy, productive land supporting people, industry and nature
- Water - Sustainable water management and healthy waterways
- Nature - Protecting and restoring native ecosystems and wildlife
Why are you asking for public feedback?
This draft reflects the ideas and values shared during earlier engagement. Now we want to check that we’ve represented your priorities accurately and clearly. Your feedback will help us refine the plan before it is finalised and adopted.
What parts of the plan can I comment on?
You can comment on any or all sections - the five priorities, case studies, regional issues, or the detailed tables of objectives, strategies, actions and partner roles. You can focus on the areas of the plan most relevant to you or provide general feedback.
When do submissions close?
Submissions close on the 6th March 2026.
How do I provide feedback?

Submissions close 6th March 2026.
In-person engagement will also be held with First Nations partners following their preferred ways of working.
How will my feedback be used?
All submissions will be reviewed by the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board. Feedback will help:
- refine actions
- improve clarity
- confirm partner roles
- strengthen alignment with community expectations and regional needs.
A summary of community feedback and the changes made will be published after consultation.
Please note: Your submission may be made publicly available unless you indicate that you wish for it to remain confidential. Any responses that are made on a confidential basis may still be subject to access under Freedom of Information laws.
What happens after the consultation closes?
The Board will refine the plan based on feedback and prepare a final version for Ministerial approval. All SA landscape regions are required to submit their plans as a package in April 2026. The final Hills and Fleurieu Regional Landscape Plan 2026-2031 is expected to be adopted in mid-2026.
