Keen to host an Optiweigh unit on your farm?

News article |

Are you a primary producer looking for a smarter, more efficient way to monitor the weight of your livestock?

Landscapes Hills and Fleurieu is inviting expressions of interest from farmers keen to host an Optiweigh unit on their property and share their experiences as part of the Climate Smart Agriculture program.

What is Optiweigh?

Optiweigh is a portable, automatic livestock weighing system that allows farmers to passively collect weight data right in the paddock.

Here’s how it works:

-  Livestock are enticed into the weighing crate using a supplement.

-  Their electronic ID tags are scanned.

-  Weight data is recorded and sent to a cloud-based platform.

-  Farm managers can access real-time insights without needing to bring animals to the yards.

This hands-off approach means more frequent data collection with less effort, making it easier to track growth rates and make informed decisions.

Why trial Optiweigh?

Monitoring stock weights isn’t just about productivity - it’s also about sustainability. Faster growth and earlier sales mean animals spend less time on farm, which can reduce overall emissions.

Two Optiweigh units are now available for trial across the region. With the goal of real-world testing and shared learning.
