Acknowledging Traditional Owners

Acknowledging Traditional Owners

The Kangaroo Island Landscape Board acknowledges and respects the traditional custodians of the Kangaroo Island region, and we also pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

We acknowledge and respect the deep spiritual attachment and the relationship that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have to Country.

We also pay respects to the cultural authority of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people visiting the Kangaroo Island region from other areas of South Australia or Australia.

Statement of Commitment

In 2021, the Kangaroo Island Landscape Board formally endorsed a Statement of Commitment as a first step to improving engagement with First Nations groups and individuals across our region.
