Our region's plan
Nurturing Kangaroo Island’s landscapes together to create a thriving, sustainable future
This is the vision of the Kangaroo Island Landscape Board which underpins the Kangaroo Island Landscape Plan 2021-2026.
The regional plan for the Kangaroo Island Landscape Board sets the future direction for natural resource management for the Kangaroo Island region.
In July 2020, the Landscape South Australia Act 2019, replaced the Natural Resources Management Act 2004. Given this change, and the appointment of the Kangaroo Island Landscape Board, a regional plan (strategic plan) has been developed that focuses on the priority areas of water, sustainable agriculture, pest plants and animals, biodiversity and community as set out by the Minister for Environment and Water when the landscape boards were established.
In drafting the Kangaroo Island Landscape Plan 2021-2026, the Board gave particular consideration to community feedback on values, actions and concerns raised following the bushfires of 2019-2020 as well as feedback received during the six week consultation process which closed on 15 March 2021.
The plan, and supporting documents, outline the region's key landscape requirements and the programs that will deliver identified priorities.
