This beach is home to the threatened Hooded Plover, a resident shorebird species. Hooded Plovers nest in a shallow scrape on the upper beach between August and March each year.

The beach is subject to extensive erosion, which is a threat to the Hooded Plovers’ available nesting habitat.

This Pix Stix will help us monitor the impacts of erosion on the beach, which may increase with a warming climate.
