Sheoak Grassy Woodland

Sheoak Grassy Woodland

At this Pix Stix we are monitoring a sheoak grassy woodlands site that has been revegetated by the Friends of Southern Eyre Peninsula Parks volunteer group.

Sheoak grassy woodlands provide important habitats for a number of bird and mammal species.

These woodlands were once widespread across Eyre Peninsula. However, clearing for agriculture, grazing by overabundant species and fire has caused many of these woodlands to disappear.

The Friends of Southern Eyre Peninsula Parks volunteer group have revegetated this site in 2018. Sheoaks are however, very slow growing.

This Pix Stix is being used to monitor the change over time as we watch this habitat return to what it once was.
