NOTE: Restricted access - this Pix Stix is located on private property, accessed with permission from landholder
These two Pix Stix are located within fenced heritage agreement sites on a private property. The landowners work with local school groups to continually monitor them.
Site one is providing protection Eucalyptus vegetation communities including sugar gum and red mallee. The threatened population of Eyre Peninsula yellow-tailed black-cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus funereus whitei) are supported by these vegetation communities. These habitats and the unique species that they support are threatened by clearance, grazing, weed invasion and wildfire.
Site two supports a population of the endangered Tufted bush-pea (Pultenaea trichophylla). Tufted bush-pea is a small shrub with small leaves and red and yellow pea flowers that only occurs on southern Eyre Peninsula. Remaining populations of tufted bush-pea are threatened by clearance, grazing, weed invasion and wildfire.
