Hosted by the Kangaroo Island Landscape Board, with support from the Penneshaw Progress Association, the evening gave residents and landholders the chance to meet the team, ask questions and see some of the tools being used in the 2026 winter knockdown, with the goal to remove more than 95 per cent of the remaining feral cat population across the eradication zone,

Thermal technology, drones and cage trap technology were on display, showing how the program is using targeted, efficient methods to locate and remove the remaining feral cats from the Dudley Peninsula. Trig, the cat detection puppy was also introduced to the community.

Dudley Peninsula Feral Cat Eradication Program Leader Paul Jennings said community support remained critical to the success of the program.

“Every landholder conversation, every sighting report and every show of support helps us get closer to a feral cat-free Dudley Peninsula,” Mr Jennings said.

“It was great to meet new members of the community, answer questions and show people the tools and technology being used by the team.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Dudley Peninsula community, the Penneshaw Progress Association and everyone who came along on the night. Their support gives this program the best possible chance of success.”
