As with visiting any natural environment, your safety is an absolute priority. Before embarking on any wilderness activities, be sure to check for any park closures or fire bans that might affect you.

Fire management in the region

Fire management programs in the Hills and Fleurieu region aim to protect land at risk from bushfires through a range of activities, including:

• prescribed burning (both for asset protection and ecological purposes)
• maintenance of fire access tracks and fire infrastructure
• other fuel reduction works, such as slashing and weed management
• maintaining fire related machinery and equipment.
