Drought support for people in need

Posted 10 December 2018.

A variety of support services have been made available to families and businesses in the region facing hardship due to the drought.

Family and Business (FaB) Support Officer for the State’s north and pastoral areas John White said help is available to all who need it through the Farm Household Allowance.

This is open to anyone in the region experiencing hardship, regardless of if they are in a drought declared area.

Mr White encouraged landholders in the undeclared North West Pastoral district to contact him to discuss support options.

PIRSA has compiled a number of resources to support pastoralists in the current conditions, including the Drought Support brochure, which is an easy reference guide to available support. it can be downloaded at http://pir.sa.gov.au/grants_and_assistance/drought_support/financial_assistance

The website includes details about the SA FaB Support Program, which has been established to help farmers, farming families and regional businesses in drought affected communities via the 24-hour hotline 1800 255 556 or by emailing PIRSA.Recovery@sa.gov.au

The Federal Government also has information on drought and rural support services on offer at http://www.agriculture.gov.au/ag-farm-food/drought.
