Revised Water Allocation Plan consultation
Revised Water Allocation Plan consultation
Posted 15 July 2019.
Consultation for the revised Far North Water Allocation Plan (WAP) will open in August for two months.
The dates for the consultation period will be advertised soon on the Board's website, and will call for submissions on the draft WAP from all interested parties.
The WAP has been amended to reflect the new scientific understanding of the Great Artesian Basin, to better account for the emerging demands for water in the region and to continue to protect the existing users and important ecosystems that rely on the underground water in that arid environment.
As part of the consultation by the SA Arid Lands Natural Resources Management Board, interested landholders will be welcome to attend drop-in sessions at Coober Pedy Golf Club and Marree Telecentre, with dates and times to be advertised. A further drop in session and formal meeting is also planned for Adelaide.
Written submissions to the Board regarding the WAP will be welcomed during this two month consultation period. They can be posted to PO Box 78 Port Augusta 5700 or emailed to SAALNRMAridlands@sa.gov.au.
Once it is released for consultation, a copy of the WAP will be available on the SAAL website Additionally, holders of water licences will be directly emailed a link and information will be shared on the Natural Resources SA Arid Lands Facebook Page.
