Assistance sought on well locations

The assistance of all water licensees and well owners in the Far North Prescribed Wells Areas is being sought by the Department for Environment and Water (DEW).

DEW will be sending property maps to all water licensees in January and is asking that the maps be updated with the location and status of wells on properties. They are also asking that wells being used as a water supply be identified to ensure water licences are correct and up to date.

As water can only be extracted from sources endorsed on the licence, an accurate list of wells is required to ensure it is compliant with licence conditions. In January 2020 land managers will be sent a package with letter and guide outlining the process and maps of their property.
