Draft WAP with Minister

Posted 27 November 2020.

The final draft of the Water Allocation Plan (WAP) for the Far North Prescribed Wells Area was provided to the Minister for Environment and Water, David Speirs, for his consideration and adoption on 6 October 2020.

The draft presented to the Minister reflected community feedback, with scientific and policy considerations.

Once adopted, the WAP will align with the National Water Initiative and the Great Artesian Basin Strategic Management Plan, that aims to deliver consistent water management across the basin. Importantly the WAP will support judicious use of the resource with an equitable balance between the economic, social and environmental needs.

The Minister is now reviewing the Plan and will advise the Board of the outcome.
