Celebrating Adelaide-based volunteers

Attended by representatives from the Friends of Mound Springs, Retire Active SA Bushwalkers, Four Wheel Drive SA, Toyota LandCruiser Club SA, Range Rover Discovery Club of SA, Mitsubishi 4WD Club, Friends of Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park, and the Overland 4WD Club.

Volunteers heard about the work of the board, the region’s natural resource management challenges and the many opportunities for ongoing involvement in the region.

Over the past decade, volunteers have conservatively contributed 56,339 hours of on-ground work, making an invaluable contribution to the region’s environment and one that is gratefully appreciated by the region’s landholders.

Presentations were shared by:

  • Ian Frost from the Toyota LandCruiser Club of SA, who shared the club’s cactus control work in the North Flinders;
  • Simon Lewis, presenting on the conservation efforts led by the Friends of Mound Springs.
  • Gini Lee from Oratunga Station, expressing her thanks to volunteers for their ongoing support in remote areas, emphasising the appreciation by landowners and local communities.

Volunteers were given a Sturt Pea propagation kit to recognise their work.

Attendees provided positive feedback after the event which included the following comment from the Range Rover Discovery Club of SA:

“It was good to see other volunteers and meet them. The event demonstrates how we value volunteering;” and “This gathering has been a great way to network with other clubs and groups and the presentations were great!”
