If you are going above and beyond to care for the environment, the SA Arid Lands Landscape Board’s Grassroots Grants program has opened today, offering a total
grant pool of p to $150,000 for eligible projects.

The sixth round of Grassroots Grants will be open until 4pm on Monday 12 May, offering individual grants up to $20,000.

SAAL Landscape Board Chair Douglas Lillecrapp has encouraged individuals, community groups, volunteers, not-for-profit organisations and landholders with suitable projects to apply in this round of funding.

“The Grassroots Grants program supports the community to play a significant role in managing our natural resources, including carrying out on-ground works,” he said.

“These grants support local environmental efforts that address climate resilience, water management, sustainable land management, protect and enhance biodiversity and support people and partnerships.

"Over the past five rounds, we've seen some incredible projects that have restored habitat and protected threatened species, controlled pest plants, and supported soil works, regenerative agriculture endeavours, revegetation projects, education programs and capacity building events.

“The grants have also supported initiatives that support the work of First Nations people in caring for Country.”

Individuals and groups considering an application are encouraged to speak with their Community Landscape Officer to discuss project ideas and get supported to develop their applications.

Funding will be awarded on merit for projects within the SA Arid Lands region that address the board’s priority areas and display value for money.
