Social events bring families together
Social events designed to bring together families to hear from speakers, socialise and catch up and generally have fun, have continued across the SA Arid Lands region.
In the North East Pastoral, 45 people attended a Family Social Day at Mannahill. The day and evening event included kids getting up and personal with animals from Animals Anonymous, Virtual Reality (VR) Headsets, face painting, native plant stall and giveaways, a native bird display and agricultural drone demonstration which created a lot of interest amongst the crowd.
A barbecue tea was provided, and participants gathered around the campfire while listening to Caitlin Drew perform. The event provided an opportunity for the community to get together for a social occasion.
At Moongi, near Buckleboo, the Gawler Ranges Progress Association was supported to run the Wilcherry Golf Day.
Forty golfers were joined by their families for an event that offered children’s activities with Animals Anonymous and VR headsets showing an up-close farming experience.
Refreshments were supplied with support from the Kimba Lions Club and a barbecue dinner was provided.
There is one final family day to be held in the region, which will happen in the first half of next year.
The Family Fun Days have been supported by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) through funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.
