Rangeland Management Course
Training
24 June 2026
This Rangeland Management Course will be a practical, hands-on day, with plenty of time in the paddock that's designed for early-career pastoralists and station staff.
FREE and on-station, the course will strengthen participants’ understanding of how rangeland health and beef production are interconnected, while recognising the diversity of landscapes and production systems across the rangelands.
Join Alison Kain and Caleb Schwartz, Livestock industries extension staff from the NT Department of Agriculture and Fisheries from Alice Springs, for a one-day workshop covering:
- Introduction to rangeland environments, land systems and how pastures grow
- Land condition
- Identify pasture species and their value
- Principles of cattle nutrition and carrying capacity
- Weeds and poisonous plants ID
Participants will walk away with clearer knowledge on the fundamentals of rangelands management. Although the course is targeted at first/second year station hands, we welcome more experienced staff to join in and contribute their experience and local knowledge.
