Silver daisy-bush

Description:

Erect, straggly to spreading shrub to 1.5m high. Thick stems, woody at the base, soft towards the tip and covered with appressed hairs. Prominently veined, broad-ovate to elliptic leaves to 9cm long and 5cm wide, dark green and shiny above, white to rusty-tomentose below. Large single white to pale-mauve daisy flowers with a yellow centre on long terminal stalks. Flowering between August and October.

Distribution:

Endemic to the southern areas of South Australia including Kangaroo Island. On Kangaroo Island it grows in shallow soils over rock near the coast.

Specific threats:

Threats to Olearia pannosa ssp. pannosa include disturbance and livestock grazing, over-browsing by macropods (kangaroos and wallabies), competition from weeds and a highly restricted distribution.
