Field day to focus on needs of North East pastoralists
The North East Pastoral Field Day will bring speakers, stalls, demonstrations and displays aimed at meeting the needs of the pastoral industry in South Australia’s North East.

Organised by the SA Arid Lands Landscape Board and the North East Pastoral Landscape group, the field day will be held at the Mannahill Racecourse on Saturday 29 May and will bring together the district’s residents.
The program will provide access to information, ideas, technical demonstrations and innovations that can benefit pastoral businesses.
The field day is being offered as part of the Board’s Building Pastoral Sustainability Project, which has been designed to build on the capacity and resilience of pastoral businesses. Additional funding for the field day has been provided by the National Recovery and Resilience Agency.
The program includes sessions on property planning, Ag tech including electronic identification (eID) of livestock and virtual fencing, planning for drought recovery, telemetry, ruminant nutrition, women in leadership and staying mentally fit during hard times. A Government panel question and answer session will finish the field day program.
There will be almost 30 industry and community stalls to browse during breaks.
Children have not been forgotten and space has been set aside for activities that include snakes with Julian Craig, Bugs N Slugs with Kristen Messenger, seed bomb and native gardening with Andrea Tschirner and a variety of activities with the Remote and Isolated Children’s Exercise (RICE).
Live entertainment will be provided by Paul Costa on Saturday night.
Complimentary catering will be provided on the day by the Isolated Children’s and Parents Association (ICPA) and the Mannahill Progress Association. Fresh coffee and hot donuts will be available for purchase. Mannahill Hotel will provide a range of refreshments.
A barbecue dinner is available. Please book during the online registration process. It will be available at the racecourse at the conclusion of the event.
