Pastoral Field Day returns in 2025
The Pastoral Field Day will provide an opportunity to learn, connect and explore when it returns next year. Hosted at the Port Augusta Racecourse, the field day will be held on Thursday, 20 March, 2025.
Whether you are looking to gain practical knowledge, discover innovative ideas or catch up with others in the pastoral community, this is an event that will offer something for everyone.
While the program is still to be finalised, some key highlights include:
- Horsemanship Demonstration: Experience the expertise of a South Australian master horseman as he demonstrates the foundations of horsemanship.
- Understanding Pastoral Soils: Explore practical approaches to managing soil health, tracking land conditions, and recognising responses in pasture growth to enhance the sustainability and productivity of your property.
- Q&A Panel Session with Industry and Government
- Horrocks Vale Collections Fashion Parade: Showcasing the work of local couture bridal designer and grazier Nikki Atkinson, featuring Merino wool as a sustainable innovation for the bridal industry and supporting Australia's graziers.
- Pastoral Business Insights with MLA: Gain valuable knowledge on market trends and value-adding opportunities in the pastoral industry, presented by Meat & Livestock Australia.
- Cooking with Native Flavours: Watch a live cooking demonstration using ethically sourced South Australian game meats and native ingredients.
- Sustainable Gardening: Explore techniques for propagating native plants and building wicking beds, perfect for water-efficient gardening in arid environments.
- Creative Native Plant Workshops: Participate in a hands-on workshop creating stunning arrangements using native plants and foliage.
The day will also feature trade stalls offering AgTech, pastoral business equipment, livestock health and supplements, pest plant and animal control, shearing supplies, native plant supplies, pipeline and pump equipment, leatherwork, off-grid energy and soils. Food vans will be on site all day and a full list of stall holders will be available on our website early in 2025.
To cap off the day, we’re co-hosting a dinner with the Flinders Ranges Isolated Children’s and Parents Association (ICPA) Branch at the Racecourse following completion of the day’s program. The dinner has been organised in support of the State ICPA Conference taking place the following day (Friday March 21).
Registration is essential for both the event and the dinner and bookings for both events will open on 20 January 2025.
