Managing feral deer on your property

Managing feral deer on your property

In the Hills and Fleurieu region, feral fallow deer sightings are increasing, and red deer are also being found in some areas. Landholders are responsible for destroying all feral deer on their properties under the Landscape South Australia Act 2019.

Any deer keepers must be registered under the Livestock Regulations 2013 and ensure their deer cannot escape or be released.

If you find feral deer on your property

The primary form of deer management is shooting. This is most effective when neighbouring landholders work together to coordinate culling of deer across multiple properties.

If you have feral deer on your property, we also may be able to help. Register your interest here to learn more about our Feral Deer Eradication Program
