Public Interest Disclosures

Making an appropriate disclosure of public interest information

The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2018 (SA) establishes a scheme to encourage and facilitate disclosure of public interest information to certain persons or authorities. The Act provides protections for those who make disclosures. It also sets out processes for dealing with disclosures, which can be found in the Public Interest Disclosure Guidelines.

If you want to make an appropriate disclosure of public interest information related to the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board (the board) or a board employee you have a number of options including:

1. Contact the Office for Public Integrity (OPI) and speak to them.

The OPI is a relevant authority to receive disclosures of public administration information regarding the board and board employees.

2. Contact the board’s responsible officer.

The board’s responsible officer can provide you with advice and assistance. The board’s Responsible Officer is a relevant authority to receive disclosures of public interest information.

All disclosures of public interest information should be addressed to:

  • Email:
    ny.PID@sa.gov.au
  • Post:
*Mark the envelope private and confidential*

  • ensure that information received is dealt with in a confidential manner
  • ensure that you are kept informed
  • encourage the raising of any concerns you have about potential detrimental outcomes that may be caused from the disclosure.

3. Contact the person’s manager or supervisor.

If your disclosure of public interest information relates to a board employee, the person responsible for the management or supervision of that board employee is also a relevant authority.

4. Contact the Office of the Commissioner for Public Sector Employment.

The Commissioner for Public Sector Employment is a relevant authority to receive disclosures of public interest information regarding the board and board employees.

Further information about public interest disclosures can be found in the board’s Public Interest Disclosure Procedure.
