Five Nations Landscape Committee

Five Nations Landscape Committee

The Five Nations Landscape Committee was established in 2020 to strengthen the relationship between the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board and the region's five First Nations: Kaurna, Narungga, Ngadjuri, Nukunu and Peramangk.

The committee provides a dedicated forum for First Nations representatives, the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board, Regional Development Australia and the regional Local Government Association to discuss landscape management, share knowledge and explore opportunities to work together in caring for Country. Through  conversations and projects, the committee helps strengthen understanding of First Nations perspectives and supports more informed decision-making across the region.

Committee members meet four times each year, with all meetings held on Country. Meeting on Country provides an opportunity to connect discussions with place, share local knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of the landscapes, cultural values and management priorities that are important to each Nation.

The committee plays an important role in identifying landscape priorities, providing advice and highlighting opportunities for collaboration. By bringing together representatives from across the region, it supports knowledge sharing, strengthens relationships and helps ensure First Nations perspectives are reflected in landscape management programs and initiatives.

Five Nations Landscape Committee
A partnership for the future The Northern and Yorke Landscape Boards relationship with the five First Nations is an ongoing journey built on respect, participation, shared learning and practical action. Working together provides a stronger foundation for caring for Country today and into the future.
