Grazing Management Grant

The Grazing Management Grant will assist primary producers in the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board (NYLB) region to undertake fencing and/or water infrastructure projects to improve grazing practices (e.g. implement rotational grazing).

• The maximum funding (GST exclusive) available to primary producers is $10 per hectare improved* up to a maximum of $5,000.
  • *Grazing practices must be improved to a minimum level at or comparable to halving the duration of grazing in the paddock(s). E.g. installing fencing to split a 500ha paddock in half would be eligible for up to $10 x 500ha = $5,000.

This grant round opened on 12 August 2026 and closes on 21 September 2026. Please note funding is available on a first come first served basis*. A total funding pool of $250,000 is available. This page will be updated once funding is exhausted.

*Applications from primary producers who have received an on-farm dry time grant from the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board in 2024, 2025 or 2026 will be assessed only, subject to funding availability, after the grant round closes on 21 September 2026.

Who is eligible?

Grazing Management Grantsare intended for primary producers that:

• hold a current Australian Business Number (ABN).
• hold a minimum of $1,000,000 in public liability insurance cover. It is the primary producer’s responsibility to assess and consider the risks and ensure adequate insurance is in place.
• own or manage a primary production enterprise within the NYLB region  and must be willing to enter into a grant agreement. No work shall commence until the grant agreement has been signed by all parties.
• receive the majority (>50%) of total income from primary production under normal seasonal circumstances.
• have not received funding from other Commonwealth and/or State Government programs for the grant activities.
• have not received a land management improvement grant, or on-farm dry time grant from the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board in 2024, 2025 or 2026. Applications from primary producers who have received a land management improvement grant, or on-farm dry time grant from the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board in 2024, 2025 or 2026 will be assessed, subject to funding availability, after the grant round closes on 21 September 2026.
• have not received funding through the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board’s Stronger Country project.

What is eligible?

• Internal fencing – wire, posts, gates
• Water infrastructure – troughs and associated pipes, tanks, valves. 

What is ineligible?

The full list of ineligible activities can be found in the Application Guidelines. They include:

• Labour (in-kind), vehicles and travel costs.
• Utilities and operating costs of the business.
• Retrospective reimbursements.
• Purchasing new or repairing machinery.
• Repairing existing infrastructure.
