Bite Size grants open next week for Northern and Yorke

Got a bright idea to tackle weeds, plant native species, improve biodiversity or bring your community together around a local environmental project, but need a little seed funding to help make it happen?

The Northern and Yorke Landscape Board's 2026-27 Bite-sized Grants program opens Friday 28 August 2026, offering community groups and not-for-profit organisations funding between $200 to $2,000 to help turn great local ideas into action.

Northern and Yorke Landscape Board representatives are encouraging groups to take a bite out of the available funding and apply early.

“While the grants may be bite-sized, the results are anything but,” says Elisha Brunton, Community Engagement Officer Northern and Yorke Landscape Board.

"Sometimes all a project needs is a small boost to get off the ground.

"These grants help local volunteers, community groups, schools and organisations deliver practical projects that improve our landscapes, waterways, biodiversity and communities."

Elisha says recipients in recent years funding has been used for projects ranging from roadside revegetation and weed control to biodiversity planting, community workshops, pest control management, habitat restoration and environmental education activities across the region. She says the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board has uploaded a list of last year’s fundees for those interested in seeing what has been happening across the region with a little assistance from the Bite Size Grants program.

She can’t wait to see what the applications have in store for the region this year, and says while each group can receive only one grant per year, applications are accepted on a rolling basis. If a group is not successful initially, they are welcome to reapply at any time during the grant period.

Applications remain open until 5pm Friday 30 April 2027, or until available funds have been allocated. Funding is available for a wide range of activities that support Landscape Board priorities, including pest plant and animal control, sustainable agriculture, water management, biodiversity and community action.

Eligible incorporated community groups, volunteer organisations and schools are encouraged to apply, with one successful application permitted per group each financial year. Individual landholders are not eligible, although groups of landholders may apply with the support of a sponsor.

Projects must contribute to one or more of the priorities of the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board’s Regional Landscape Plan.
