Carbon Ready Ag Conference releases free resources
More than 140 primary producers and industry leaders gathered in Port Pirie on 27 August 2025 for South Australia’s first Carbon Ready Ag Conference, walking away with practical insights and resources to navigate the carbon farming landscape.
Hosted by the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board, the conference brought together voices from across the supply chain — including NAB, Thomas Foods International, Bunge and Carbon Management Services — alongside real-world case studies from local landholders already trialling carbon farming. This included an optional site visit to HB Rural Feedlot, which is cutting methane with the help of CH4 Global.
Elly Pratt, Climate Adaptation Facilitator with the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board said feedback from the conference had been overwhelmingly positive, with many primary producers reaching out to see what they can do about revegetation and soil carbon on their own properties.
“Farmers came away with a clearer understanding of both the opportunities and risks in carbon farming,” said Ms Pratt.
“Attendees were really impressed with the range of speakers we attracted to our region.
“It was great to be able to give a platform to some industry insiders who we don’t often hear from and give primary producers a better understanding of how the carbon farming world is evolving.
“And highlight a local success story like HB Rural Feedlot and show how real farms are going about reducing emissions right now.”
Conference attendees explored opportunities in soil carbon, revegetation and emissions reduction, had the option to join a hands-on Carbon Calculator workshop and were introduced to a raft of free resources to help them continue their investigation into carbon markets.
These include the What You Need to Know Now podcast, an Emission Reduction Checklist Audit Guide, video tutorials, flyers and one-on-one support by the Landscape Board. The resources are now available on our website.
Attendee Glenn Christie from Succession Ecology said he enjoyed the case studies and real-world experiences featured at the conference, showing what is possible for primary producers and landholders.
“It gave a practical point of view into carbon farming. It was uplifting, positive and encouraging. The message was clear: it’s not pie in the sky — it’s practical and doable,” he said.
The Northern and Yorke Landscape Board continues to offer free, independent advice and carbon farming workshops across the region. To access resources or request a workshop, contact the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board.
