Get your hands dirty at Hart

The Hart Field Site, located between Blyth and Brinkworth in the Mid North, already has an established revegetation area on-site. On 10 June, we're adding to it, planting a range of native species suited to the local conditions, from native grasses and understorey plants like kangaroo grass, old man saltbush, and emu bush, through to larger trees including peppermint box and drooping sheoak.

Whether you're a landholder thinking about adding native vegetation to your property, or just keen to see what revegetation looks like in practice, there's something useful on offer and a great chance to get your hands dirty.

The session covers:

  • How to choose the right species for your site and conditions
  • Planting techniques to maximise survival
  • Identifying common native grasses
  • How to select a mix of plants that supports insects and birds year-round
  • Principles of designing a windbreak

Not keen to plant? Drop in anyway. Our ecologists will be on hand to answer questions, and there's a free BBQ lunch at midday.

10am: Planting begins
11am: 45-minute guided session with our ecologists
12pm: BBQ lunch

Stay as long as you like. Free to attend. All welcome. Registrations appreciated.
