Project ideas invited for next round of Grassroots Grants

Applications for the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board’s 2025-2026 Grassroots Grants program are now open.

The Northern and Yorke Landscape Board is offering up to $200,000 in grant money, funded through the landscape levy, to help sustainably manage the region’s natural resources.

This year the Board has improved the application process, making it much easier for people to apply.

Project ideas invited for next round of Grassroots Grants

“Applying for a grant can be a daunting experience, which is why we have implemented a simpler 2-stage approach,” said Northern and Yorke Landscape Board’s Kate Pearce.

“Firstly, we want to hear about your project idea by completing a short form. This is the expression of interest stage, which will be open for 2 weeks, from 31 March until 11 April 2025.

“Our staff will get in touch to help guide your idea development and if the project speaks directly to the Board’s priorities, then successful applicants will be asked to proceed to stage 2 – the full application stage, which involves applying online.”

The Grassroots Grants program empowers volunteers, community and landholder groups, schools, First Nations, agriculture organisations and councils to make a positive difference in the local environment.

The annual funding program is about backing locals to deliver landscape management projects they’re passionate about.

This could be caring for our coastal ecosystems, reducing the threat of pest animals and plants, improving the health of native bushland or embracing technology to improve soil health.

Now in its sixth year, the Northern and Yorke Grassroots Grants program funds projects between $2,000 and $10,000 that contribute to one or more of the Board’s regional priorities and focus areas.

Potential projects include weed, pest or disease control, watercourse or wetland management, revegetation, survey and monitoring activities, sustainable agriculture trials, cultural knowledge sharing and community education.

Unlike last year, the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board is not offering multi-year project funding. Only 1-year projects will be accepted during this round.
