Got ideas for Northern and Yorke? Put your hand up for the Board
Ever wanted to help shape the future of Northern and Yorke’s land, water and nature, and the vibrant communities these remarkable natural assets underpin? Here's your chance.
The Northern and Yorke Landscape Board is calling for community minded locals who care about the region's future to put their hand up for the local Board.
The Northern and Yorke Landscape Board is one of seven South Australian landscape boards currently seeking nominations from people who want to help guide work that improves the health, sustainability and productivity of their regions.
Northern and Yorke Landscape Board General Manager Tony Fox said the strength of landscape boards lies in their connection to local landscapes and communities.
“What sets landscape boards apart is their strong connection to the regions they serve”, says Tony Fox.
“Our Board members have firsthand knowledge of local landscapes, the challenges they face and the opportunities to protect and enhance them. The local knowledge and diverse perspectives on our Board is at the heart of good decision-making.”
Landscape Board members play an important role in shaping priorities across the region, working together to help guide decisions that support healthy landscapes, productive agriculture and thriving communities. They contribute to regional approaches that protect and enhance biodiversity, support sustainable natural resource management, build resilient landscapes, productive agriculture, and thriving communities for future generations.
"Have you ever thought, someone should do something about that? Well, this could be your chance,” Mr Fox says.
“Whether your background is agriculture, conservation, business, education, or community, your voice could help shape the future of our region.
“If you have ideas about looking after our landscapes, supporting local communities, protecting biodiversity or planning for the future, now's your chance to put your hand up and make a difference.
“This is a skills-based board and we are seeking nominations from people with a range of industry, community and leadership experience. Strong representation from all parts of the Northern and Yorke region is important to ensure the Board reflects the communities and landscapes it serves.”
Nominations are now open and close at 5pm on Sunday 16 August 2026. Successful nominees will be appointed for up to four years commencing in January 2027.
