Precious Plants for Precious People program
Are you looking for a hands-on way to engage your students with nature while promoting conservation?
The Precious Plants for Precious People program is an opportunity for schools in the Murraylands and Riverland to get involved and connect young people with their local environment.
This free program encourages students to gift a native plant to someone special in their lives - whether it’s a parent, teacher, elder, or friend—while learning about the importance of local biodiversity.
Since its inception in 2013, over 4,000 students across 70 schools have taken part, with more than 1,400 plants distributed in 2023 alone.
Riverland sessions:
Classroom session: A 45-minute in-class talk on local threatened species, with students taking home a native plant for regent parrots.
