Wetlands and floodplains
There is a diverse range of wetlands and floodplains along the River Murray in South Australia. These areas need to be managed to ensure that they and the ecosystems they support are healthy.With the aim of achieving maximum environmental benefit, this is done by:
- advocating for water for the environment and managing its use
- wetland planning to reintroduce the natural wetting-drying cycle
- floodplain planning to coordinate surface water, groundwater and land management actions.
