We’re really flexible
Our flexible working arrangements allow you almost unlimited work from home opportunities. You can set your own working hours and schedule your work around personal commitments. We offer the ability to work compressed working hours, so staff can work 37.5 hours a week over 4 days and have an extra day off per week.
Any extra time worked over contracted hours is accrued as flexitime which you can use to take paid time off later. Staff working full time are entitled to 4 weeks leave per annum with ability to purchase more leave. This is adjusted for staff who work in a part-time capacity.
We have offices located in Murray Bridge, Berri, Karoonda, Cambrai and Lameroo, and most positions can be based from an office of your choosing.
We help staff stay healthy
We know that a happy and healthy workforce performs at its best. With that in mind, we have several well-being initiatives to help you stay at your best.
Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board employees are offered vaccines including Japanese encephalitis and an annual flu jab. We also offer regular skin cancer checks and encourage staff to stay active through a free half hour of leave per week for exercise of their choosing.
Lots of leave options
In addition to the standard 4 weeks annual leave, all staff receive 4 days of paid leave during the Christmas shutdown period. This means full-time staff enjoy 4 weeks of annual leave plus the extra Christmas leave. We also offer staff paid volunteer leave, and paid cultural and community responsibilities leave. Staff who volunteer in emergency management (like firefighting) are eligible for paid emergency response leave during deployments to emergency or natural disaster situations.
All staff working full time may take up to 12 days of paid sick or carers leave, and this is adjusted for part-time staff. Paid parental leave is also available to support staff and their partners after birth or adoption. Additional unpaid parental leave is also an option.
Ongoing training and professional development
Welcome to a workplace that fosters professional development and supports you to achieve your career goals. We have an annual training budget for every member of staff as we believe this is a good investment in our people and their careers. You can nominate the training that you would like to undertake, and we’ll help you access the best training options. Most training occurs as part of your regular working hours.
We offer leadership training courses designed to grow aspiring leaders. Leadership development opportunities include the ability to act in more senior roles from time to time.
Salary packaging
Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board staff may sacrifice a portion of their salary through novated car leases and airline lounge memberships.
Staff based at our Karoonda, Cambrai, Lameroo and Berri offices are also entitled to salary sacrifice mortgage interest, residential utilities, employee sourced rent and residential property purchases.
Help relocating
Staff who relocate to Karoonda, Cambrai, Lameroo and Berri may be entitled to relocation benefits including relocation expenses, short-term rental assistance, and an attraction and retention allowance. These benefits are not applicable to staff based at our Murray Bridge office.
Remunerating landscape board staff
Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board staff are paid in line with the South Australian Public Sector Enterprise Agreement: Salaried 2021.
The rate of pay for every role is determined by its classification level (e.g. ASO, PSO, OPS). Under the enterprise bargaining agreement, all positions receive an annual increase to account for CPI. In addition, all classifications receive an annual increase for the first 3 or 4 years of a staff member’s time in that role.
In some circumstances, a staff member may be recruited into a higher increment of the role’s classification from the time they are hired. This is generally negotiated where a candidate offers a high level of experience in relation to the technical requirements of the position.
The Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board encourages staff to step up into higher positions to cover the leave of colleagues, and staff are paid at the higher level during these periods.
