Karoonda Farm Fair is happening this year on 9 and 10 April, and we’ll be there!
Drop by the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board marquee at 15-16 Copeville Street, speak with our friendly staff, or learn some interesting facts about native animals and get up close with a reptile or two.
The Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board General Manager Andrew Meddle said people will be able to hear from a variety of our expert staff who are keen to talk with the community and answer questions.
“The Karoonda Farm Fair is a great way to let people know about the services that the landscape board can offer to primary producers and our local community,” Mr Meddle said.
“This year’s marquee has lots to see and do, including some fun and interactive activities.
“While you are visiting, why not enter the marquee competition for budding gardeners to win a start your own veggie garden pack,” he said.
The Sustainable Agriculture Team will be available to help you learn about soil health and the vital role of soil carbon.
The District team are promoting best practice for pest animal control and options for effectively managing pest plants, including aquatic weeds.
The Education Team will be promoting the importance of sustainable food growing, what nude food means and how we can reduce food waste.
The Landscape Ecology Team will be chatting to people and letting them know how to become involved with monitoring activities using apps such as the national Fungimap app and the Regent parrot Polly Tell Us app, and lots more.
Animals Anonymous will be joining us again and will have a range of native animals for people to interact with so consider coming in for a wildlife experience too.
Other organisations that will be in the marquee include:
- Department for Environment and Water
- Nature Foundation
- Farm Forestry Landcare Network
- Office of the Premier's Advocate for Suicide Prevention
- Primary Industries and Research SA
- Murray Darling Basin Authority.
