Annual Fox Baiting Program Offers Discounted Baits to Murraylands Landholders

Foxes are a significant pest that can severely impact agriculture and the environment through predation, damage to infrastructure, spreading weed seeds and carrying some animal diseases.

Murraylands District Team Leader, Casey Henderson, said a coordinated approach to baiting is the best way to significantly reduce fox numbers, and the landscape board’s annual baiting program supports landholders to do this.

“Managing the impact of foxes on the local landscape is most successful when neighbouring properties work together to lay baits at the same time, thereby increasing the likelihood of a fox coming across a bait,” said Casey.

“In the lead up to lambing, working together will help to minimise fox impacts on agricultural productivity and harm to the environment,” Casey added.

Landholders can order and arrange collection of discounted baits by phoning their local district officer on 8532 9100.

This project is supported by the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board through funding from the landscape levies.
