Community invited to comment on draft 2026-2031 Regional Landscape Plan
The Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board is inviting community feedback on the draft 2026-2031 Regional Landscape Plan.
The regional landscape plan sets the direction for how the landscape board supports healthy landscapes and thriving communities across the region. It outlines the landscape board’s key priorities and how it will work together with community, partners and industry to protect and enhance the region’s natural resources that sustain us all.
Now that the 2021-2026 Regional Landscape Plan is coming to an end, the landscape board has reviewed it and updated the plan for the next 5 years.
As part of the review, stakeholder groups and partners evaluated the existing regional landscape plan and provided valuable feedback through regional workshops, helping to inform the updated draft regional landscape plan and ensure it remains relevant and effective.
Presiding member Frances Simes said the landscape board values the input from its partners and is keen to hear directly from the community.
“Our landscapes – from wetlands to floodplains to productive farms and native vegetation, are central to the identity and wellbeing of this region,” Frances said.
“We want our next regional landscape plan to reflect what matters and is needed by people who live and work across the Murraylands and Riverland. Community feedback will help us finalise a regional landscape plan that supports our shared future.” She added.
Why it matters
The regional landscape plan is used by the landscape board in planning its annual workplans and investments. It ensures that landscape levy funding, collected from across the region, is directed to where its most needed, helping to deliver on-ground projects like pest control, water management, biodiversity protection and support for local landholders.
The draft 2026-2031 Regional Landscape Plan is available online, with feedback open until 15 March 2026
