Funding Available to Support Grassroots Environmental Projects

Community groups, volunteer organisations, landholders and individuals across the Murraylands and Riverland are encouraged to submit their ideas for the 2026-27 Grassroots Grants program, aimed at supporting local, community-driven environmental action.

Funding Available to Support Grassroots Environmental Projects

An initiative of the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board, Grassroots Grants support projects and activities to help build environmental sustainability across the region. Grants help fund initiatives such as revegetation, weed control, training, citizen science, small equipment purchases, environmental surveys and community events.

Frances Simes, Chair of the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board encourages community members to think about how they can improve the sustainability of their local environment through practical, grassroots action.

“The landscape board knows that local people driving local projects are at the heart of landscape management. The Grassroots Grants program is a great opportunity for people to think about a project they’ve been wanting to do – whether its improving habitat, tackling local weeds or bringing people together to build skills and knowledge.”

“A total of $408,850 is available for projects in 2026-27, and we encourage all eligible applicants to think creatively about how this funding could support their ideas,” Frances added.

To be eligible for funding, projects must align with one or more priorities in the landscape board’s regional landscape plan. Applicants are encouraged to discuss their project ideas with landscape board staff before submitting an application.

The Grassroots Grants program reinvests landscape levies back into the Murraylands and Riverland region, empowering the community to lead practical environmental action where it matters most.

Applications are open until 22 March 2025.
