The first-ever report card for South Australia’s Marne Saunders catchment has been released by the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board, offering an assessment of the catchment’s water quality, biodiversity, and ecosystem health.

New Report Card Highlights the Health of the Marne Saunders Catchment

Developed with input from Marne Saunders water licence holders, community members, experts and the Department for Environment and Water, the report card meets the community’s request for accessible, transparent information that supports informed decision-making.

Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board chair, Di Davidson AM anticipates the report card will provide the Marne Saunders community with a greater understanding of the current state of the catchment.

“The report card presents complex scientific data in an easily readable format and will help community members stay informed about the state of their environment, whether it's water quality, biodiversity, or overall catchment health” Di said.

To celebrate this milestone achievement, the landscape board is hosting an event on Thursday 28 November at Meldanda, Cambrai to launch the report card.

Citizen Science Senior Project Officer, Sylvia Clarke believes it’s important to acknowledge all the work and effort that has gone into producing the report card and to ask the community for their feedback on the final product.

“It’s an opportunity for the Marne Saunders community to come together and learn about the work behind the report and what it means for the community and environment” Sylvia said. “It’s also a chance for the landscape board to say a big thank you to the water licence holders, landholders, First Nations, industry, experts, government and the wider community who have contributed to the report card and care about these river systems” Sylvia added.
