For the past 8 years, Mr McGregor has been employed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service as a project firefighter. He has an extensive knowledge of prescribed burns and bushfire response and comprehensive skills using all types of heavy machinery.
Mr McGregor remains actively involved as a firefighter through the Department of Environment and Water with the fire management group.
He has previously been involved in stock feed and rural supplies and has vast experience with small crop and broad acre farming.
Last year Mr McGregor worked with the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board undertaking pest and weed management control, which included mechanical removal of rabbit warrens using excavators.
Mr McGregor said he is looking forward to working and engaging with landholders and assisting them wherever possible.
Since commencing his new role, Mr McGregor has been busy and is loving the experience of undertaking tasks such as pest and weed management and visiting landholders.
Friendly and approachable, Mr McGregor is married with four grown-up children and one grandchild, which takes up most of his time. He still enjoys getting out in nature, camping and touring the outback, sometimes to remote areas or national parks.
The District team is supported by the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board through funding from the landscape levies.
